Filipa Bavčević – bio

Filipa Bavčević graduated from SEAD (Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance) in 2014, (program: Artist in Process, major in DANCE). In 2021, she enrolled in MA studies at the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek, in Nonverbal Theater and Visual Studies.

She took part in numerous artistic workshops in Croatia and abroad. Filipa lives in Zagreb and is mainly involved in performing arts. She works as a dancer and choreographer, and teaches contemporary dance techniques and improvisation.

She has collaborated with many renowned artists such as Simone Forti, David Hernandez, Jozef Frucek and Linda Kapetanea, Heine Avdal and Yukiko Shinozaki, Petra Hrašćanec, Saša Božić, Marjana Krajač, Irma Omerzo, Roberta Milevoj, Aleksandra Janeva Imfeld, Jelena Remetin, Claire Huber, Tomo Savić-Gecan, and others. She has also created many projects (Proxima b, Gilgameš, Salto animato, Stage b…)

She has performed in Croatia and abroad, at venues such as Vitlycke – Centre for Performing Arts in Sweden, York Theatre Royale, Museum of Modern Art in Salzburg, Week of Contemporary Dance in Zagreb, Festival of Dance and Nonverbal Theatre in Svetvinčenat, Monoplay – Solo Festival in Zadar, Contemporary Sound Showcase in Zagreb, UKREP Festival in Ljubljana, Biennale Arte in Venice, DOCK 11 Theatre in Berlin, and Rabbithole Theatre in Athens.

From 2016 to 2018, she worked as an assistant at the Dance Department at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. In 2018 and 2020, she taught contemporary dance and stage practice at Umjetnička škola Franje Lučića in Velika Gorica. At Umjetnička plesna škola Silvije Hercigonje she worked with the graduates on preparing their final exam.

She teaches dance workshops through various dance education programs (Zagreb Dance Center, Zadar Dance Ensemble, Little School of Contemporary Dance in Split, Dance Residency in Zagreb,…).

In 2023, she worked as a collaborator on the theatre play Hiromi, by author Vid Hribar, which became part of the repertoire program of the &TD Theatre.

Filipa is a member of the Croatian Dancers Association (UPUH) and a member of the Croatian Freelance Artists Association (HZSU) since 2018. She is a new member of Studio for Contemporary Dance.
