Sonja Pregrad is a dance artist, performer, teacher and organizer. She holds a degree from the MA Solo/Dance/Authorship – University of the Arts Berlin. She works with materiality and objecthood of dance and choreography of relations. She sees dance as a contextualized and relational gesture. Together with others, she creates haptic choreographies, performances-environments, synesthetic bodies and other kinds of affective pre/dis- agreements, produced and presented in and outside of Europe (Zagreb, Berlin, Bratislava, Tehran, Sofia, San Francisco, etc.). As a performer she has worked with Meg Staurt/Damaged Goods, Boris Charmatz, Isabelle Schad, Sanja Iveković, Keren Levi and others. She is a co-organizer of the collective Antisezona which presents contemporary dance and performance in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb. She is a co-organizer of the award-winning international festival of improvisation Improspections. She teaches regularly at the Dance department of the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, the Animation and New Media Department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, ROAR program in Berlin and elsewhere. In 2023/24 she is one of the selected artists within the Creative Crossroads program that is part of the Life Long Burning network.
